Mark's boss invited us to come to Yuba Lake with their family in August. We'd never been there before. We were to go on Friday and Saturday. Mark was to meet us Friday after work, just drive the FedEx van there since he's already down that a way. Rachel was out of town at Cross Country camp so she missed the whole thing. Mark had some unexpected trouble at work so he missed all of day one as well but me and the 4 kids that went... We had a blast!
I didn't even know Yuba Lake existed. It was lovely. It wasn't a fishy stinky lake although we definitely saw fish jumping. I don't mind them being there... I just don't want to smell them! know what I mean?
It's only an hour South of us and not far off the freeway, you can't see it from the freeway though. There is not much vegetation but there are a few places to camp with one of the areas having quite a few trees so it wouldn't be too bad. The beaches were fun to play and swim in.
The kids got to try kneeboarding. They loved it.
We packed a lunch for the day and just loaded our cooler onto the boat. We made Auntie Jennifer's famous peanut butter oatmeal choc. chip cookies, cut up strawberries and cantaloupe, made potato salad and bought a couple bags of chips and 2 footlong subs from Winco. They were perfect. We bought and Italian sub (the favorite) and an American sub which we had to pull the nasty processed cheese off of to be enjoyable but it was good too. They were only $3.99 a piece so really economical.
A rare moment of happy bonding for these two... The last year or two has been hard on them. She is the oldest by rights and feels entitled (rightly so) to a certain level of authority and alpha male here is jousting for power.

Carly asked Mark's boss if she could bring a friend since Rachel wouldn't be there to keep her company. He said sure because he's a nice guy and Carly brought her friend Laurie who is always a delight to have around.
We all had fun on the tube. Mark's boss has 3 kids, the oldest is a boy about Mason's age, then a 6 yr old girl and a 4 year old boy. They were all so good natured and patient about letting us all have turns on their vacation. I was REALLY impressed. Mark's boss's wife was also very fun to be around. Easy to talk to and fun to be with.
It was a fun day
And then we got to do it all over again!!!!!
