Mason's had his first case of lyric confusion. This might be my favorite one yet....
It might top Rachel's "I'll put my rubber jeans on" (real lyrics: I'll put my old blue jeans on)
The other day, with the look of one who has made a great discovery, Mason asked me:
"Did you know Taylor Swift is saying "Then he pulled out a ring and said Marry me Juliet"?
"yes, I knew that"
"ohhh... I just figured that out mom! I thoo-uuu-ght she was saying "He pulled out an orangutan, said Marry me Juliet."
He mistook my silence and the strain on my face from holding in my laughter for confusion and clarified, " Mom... an orangutan is a kind of a monkey"
Ayden... Kate.. little 6 yr old girls everywhere...
I hope you get a diamond when the day comes. Not an orangutan.
What are your best lyric confusion stories??

I dunno, it'd be pretty hard to say no to a guy with an orangutan! That's classic!
I've had a few enlightening moments in just the last few years when it dawned on me what those 80s singers were actually saying! Of course, I can't think of specifics right now...
Ahh brings back memories...I remember being disgusted with Clint Black when he was singing about hanging his bum out in the wind...then Dad told me he was thumbing a ride so it was his THUMB out in the wind. They gotta sing clearer, don't you think!!!
You know: "There is beauty all around when there's no one home!"
here is one i will never forget... probably because the words are forever changed in our house...
i am a child of god and He has sent me here,
has given me an earthly home
with "parents kind of wierd"
dear? wierd? it's all good.
madison sang it loud and proud!!
I sat here and laughed out loud. I dunno ... I might want the orangutan. :-) I had a terrible case of lyric confusion in my youth (a song from the 70s), but it's something that can't be printed! It still makes me blush when I think of it. And CCR's "Bad Moon Rising" ... are you SURE that isn't "There's a bathroom on the right"???? hahahahahaha!
OH MY FUNNY!!! I love it when my kids do things like that. In fact now that you asked I can't recall any of the ones my kids have done. LoL! Mason you are so funny.
Katie said the funniest thing this morning but it was not about music lyrics. However, I still think it fits here. I gave her some Cheerios to eat in a bag and she ate them all and asked for more. I had just given her the last of the regular bag and so started opening up a new bag but realized that they were Honey Nut Cheerios. So I told her, "I can give you some more but these will taste different because they have Honey in them". Katie all of a sudden shouted, "Daddy??" I was quite confused for a minute until I realized that I sometimes call Richard honey.
